In addition to their state of the art facilities, the Great Southern Regional Cattle Saleyards, like all of Western Australiaâs saleyards, maintains the highest standard of animal health through effective partnerships with all levels of government and livestock industries. All of Western Australiaâs saleyard operators understand that livestock health, welfare, and biosecurity are essential to Australiaâs red meat industry, and like the Great Southern Regional Cattle saleyard, they each believe that the welfare of their animals is of the utmost importance.
All of Western Australiaâs saleyard operators, therefore, believe in and abide by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animalsâ (RSPCA) five freedoms to ensure that they both maintain and improve the welfare of their animals. These are RSPCAâs five freedoms: 1. Freedom from hunger; 2. Freedom from discomfort; 3. Freedom from pain, injury, or disease; 4. Freedom to express normal behavior; 5. Freedom from fear and distress.
